Alternative Contacts
Alternative contacts
Things can happen that might mean you’re unable to take care of your affairs. It’s important to be covered if something happens, and make sure someone can act on your behalf if necessary.
This is a legal document that lets a person choose one or more people to act on their behalf. For example, you could choose someone to deal with your bank for you while you’re unwell – or speak to your utilities or insurance provider.
To record a power of attorney with us, you’ll need to send:
- A certified copy of the document. This can be a digital document, like a scan of a letter or a PDF.
- Access code to allow us to view your power of attorney document online. You can request one through the government website.
- Policy numbers of the policies they have with us
And if we need anything else from you, we’ll be in touch.
We’ll keep sending docs and letters (like your renewal invite) to the policyholder.
You can get in touch with us through our contact form.
If you’re finding it difficult to talk to us, we can speak with someone else on your behalf. We call this a trusted alternative contact.
What is a trusted alternative contact?
A trusted alternative contact is someone you can nominate to act on your behalf. Once you’ve chosen your contact, they can talk to us about your insurance on your behalf when you’re not able to. Your trusted alternative contact can discuss your policy, claim, and make changes on your behalf - the only thing they can’t do is cancel your policy.
If you’ve recently experienced a bereavement, you may want us to speak with a trusted contact on your behalf. We’re more than happy to do this, all you have to do is contact us to make us aware.
How do I add a trusted alternative contact?
If you’d like us to do this, you can do this in a few taps in your MyMoja account:
- Click the ‘Log in’ option in the top corner to get started
- Log in to your online account
- Click on your policy, and then on the next screen click ‘Policy details’
- Go to the ‘Contact details’ section and click ‘Add trusted person’
- Follow the on-screen steps
